We believe in Open (transparent) pricing so you are aware of the costs involved in both the hearing aids and the clinical time and skills of your Audiologist used to accurately diagnose and treat your hearing loss. To provide the most affordable and transparent prices we separate or “unbundle” our hearing aid prices from our service packages on offer. Unbundled Hearing Aid Service Packages:

Unique to hearing aid industry in Australia, we offer our services and hearing aid after-care separately from our hearing aid prices. This is known as unbundling. We believe this is a better and fairer way to provide hearing aids and professional service.

You simply purchase your hearing aids (at our market leading prices) and choose the service package (see below) that suits your needs. The packages refer to how long we will clinically support and maintain the hearing aids withIn Person and Remote Care consultations.

How You benefit from Unbundling:

– Transparency: You can clearly see that you are getting the best price on a specific hearing aid model. “Can compare apples with apples.”

– Reduces Cost. You can get into a higher level hearing aid product at markedly lower cost.

– Pay As You Go for only the services you need as you need them or choose one of our excellent value service packages. You don’t end up paying for services you don’t need, want or use.

– Ensures a higher standard of professional care. All services are itemised and clearly displayed on quotes and invoices. i.e. Service items are also transparent.

For example if a mechanic charged you $2000+ for car repairs you would expect an itemised breakdown of parts and labour to justify their price charged. Wouldn’t you?

Hearing Aid Service Packages:

In addition to purchasing the hearing aids  you are required to purchase one of the following service packages.

Option 1: Full Hearing Test, Fitting & Follow Ups: $450 (includes full diagnostic hearing test, fitting and verification of hearing aids and two follow up  appointments during the first month.

Option 2: One Year of Harmony Care: – $990

All audiological services and consultations are fully covered for the first 12 months, including your initial hearing test and fitting appointments. A good option to go for as the majority of treatment and fine tuning of hearing aids occurs in the first 12 month.  After 12 months you can pay per appointment or renew the service program for another 12months or more.

Option 3: Three Years of Harmony Care:– $1790

Three years of unlimited service where all audiological services and consultations are fully covered. It includes the initial assessment, fitting appointment, follow up and annual reviews. A good mid-range option if you upgrade your hearing aids frequently or have reasonably complicated hearing needs. Includes ear & hearing aid cleaning..

Option 4: Lifetime Harmony Care (5+ Years – $2390)

A lifetime option where all your treatment is covered for the lifetime of the hearing aids. Includes your initial hearing test, hearing aid fitting appointments and annual reviews. Includes ear & hearing aid cleaning..

Please note:Most service appointments including follow ups can be delivered remotely for improved access and convenience. This is conducted as a Tele-Care appointment with you Audiologist and can be booked from the contact us section of our website.

Hearing Aids and Fitting Only May Work Best For:

  • Experienced hearing aid users who know they don’t need many appointments.
  • People who live in another area, who want hearing aids now but will be going to another provider. For example someone on holiday interstate or overseas.
  • If purchasing a second set of hearing aids as a spare.
  • Someone who has lost their hearing aid or aids and has already paid for a service package.

Hearing Aids + Service Pack is recommended for:

  • Someone who is new to hearing aids and likes to know they can come back at any time for treatment.
  • Someone who likes knowing all the service is paid for and available when required.
  • Someone who’s hearing is getting worse or fluctuates
  • This option may be preferred by people using superannuation to pay for hearing aids, as you are paying for everything up front in one go.

Can I bring hearing aids I have already purchased?

Yes certainly, we are happy to provide our comprehensive services to clients that have acquired their hearing aids elsewhere. You are required to purchase one of our service packages (Options 1, 2, 3 or 4).

Many pop-up shop style hearing aid dispensers have appeared in recent years that purport to offer cheaper prices and adopt a “fit and go” style approach advocating a high turnover model to justify thier cheap prices. That high turnover refers to you! They seemingly ignore the research that clearly shows people adapt or acclimatise to hearing aid amplification and use over time. New users are typically given an introductory level if amplification which is incremented up over a series of months as their auditory system adapts and they acclimatise to the new sounds they are accessing. Progressive coaching ensures confident, successful use of hearing aids and maximises the benefits they give. Even experienced hearing aid users require ongoing service to properly maintain the effective functioning of quality hearing instruments.

It became standard practice for most large chain companies to charge on average $12000 to $13000 for a pair of premium hearing aids and approximately $10000 for a pair of advanced hearing aids. To some extent these pumped up prices are the result of a degree of monopolisation and price fixing by these large chain dispensers. To add insult to injury these multi-branched companies are owned by one overseas manufacturer so as to secure their supply chain. They acquire their products at a fraction of the cost compared to an independent practitioner and will only offer that manufacturer’s products.

So Who Owns Who?

The Danish company Willam and Demant Holdings owns Oticon, Bernafon and Sonic Hearing Aids and the clinics including AudioClinic, Hearing Life and Western Hearing Services. By vertically integrating these local hearing aid dispensing companies they ensure their hearing aid products are the ones being recommended.

Phonak and Unitron hearing aids are owned by Sonova a German company. Sonova own the Connect Hearing network of clinics. Another German company called Widex own the Widex Hearing Aids brand and the Bloom Hearing Clinics.

Australia’s National Hearing Care is owned by Amplifon which has it’s headquaters based in Italy.
